Upgrade or downgrade your subscription

See also:

Organization administrators can upgrade or downgrade subscriptions at any time. Each product has its own pricing plans based on the events, resources, or people that your church needs.

When it comes to billing, “product plans” refer to the plan you choose for each product. Then the “subscription” refers to all the product plans combined to create your total price.

If your organization no longer needs access to any Planning Center products, you can cancel your whole account.

Change your product plans

  1. In Account settings, select the Subscriptions page on the top navigation to see your current subscription details.

  2. Select Products on the left.

  3. Select Change plans in the top right.

  4. Select the product plan you'd like to change and choose a new plan from the dropdown.

  5. Scroll to the bottom to compare the change in your subscription price.

  6. Select Save changes to update your subscription.

The new amount will be charged starting on your next payment due date.

Tip

Custom pricing packages are not available. However, because you can upgrade and downgrade at any time, feel free to upgrade for a busier month and then downgrade for a slower month!

If you have a legacy product tier that has been grandfathered in, you will not see what is included with your current plan. If you need to know more about your subscription, email Planning Center Support by selecting the ? question mark icon in the toolbar.

How does downgrading affect your account?

If you downgrade to a free plan, you will still be able to run reports and lists in your subscribed products.

However, for some products, you will need to remove or archive some elements in your account before you are able to downgrade.

Downgrading tips

Calendar

You will need to delete rooms if you have too many rooms for the plan that you want.

Check-Ins

Check-Ins is priced by the number of unique people on your busiest day of the week, no matter how many events one person attends that day. You won't be charged for occasional spikes for big events like Christmas or Easter services.

Church Center

As long as you have a product plan selected, even the free plan, you have access to Church Center.

If you cancel your account, your church will still show up in search results unless you disable Church Center, even if you unsubscribe from each product plan.

Giving

Downgrade if you expect a smaller number of donations in the near future. If total monthly donations exceed your product plan, you'll get an email recommending that you upgrade.

Groups

There are two things you can do to reduce group members so that you can downgrade to a lower plan:

Note: If a profile belongs to more than one group, they’re still only counted once. So a person would have to be removed from all groups they belong to in order to not be counted as a member.

Publishing

If you downgrade to a plan that doesn’t support custom pages or sermons, you will lose access to those features. If you later resubscribe, you’ll have access to all of that content again.

Registrations

Registrations is priced by the number of attendees registered for your largest future event. After a large event is over, you can downgrade to a lower plan, and then upgrade again if you are planning another large event.

Services

Before downgrading your Services plan:

  • Archive team members in Planning Center Services if you have too many people in Services.

  • Delete files to reduce your needed storage space.

  • In Services on the People page, ensure that you remove any default filters on your list to see the actual number of team members in Services.

How does a product plan change affect your bill?

If you upgrade or downgrade your product plan(s) in the middle of a billing cycle, those changes are made right away. You will not be billed for the new payment amount until your next billing date, which is located on the Billing Info tab of the Subscriptions page.

If you have a prepaid balance, the new amount will be deducted from that balance moving forward.
