Edit lyrics and chords

If you've created chord charts using the Lyrics & Chords editor in Services, you can edit them directly in Music Stand.

Creating your chord charts using the Lyrics & Chords editor has the following benefits:

  • The chord charts will transpose themselves every time you add a key.

  • Musicians can transpose keys on-the-fly from Music Stand.

  • You have control over the formatting, and if you update the chart in the editor, all charts in all keys are updated.

Open the editor from a plan

To access the Lyrics & Chords editor from a plan:

  1. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left to open the sidebar.

  2. Select the Plans tab.

  3. Select a plan date from the list to open it.

  4. Tap on a song in the service order to open the PDF.

  5. Tap the center of the screen to view the top toolbar.

  6. Tap the file name at the top to open the PDF Options.

  7. Tap Edit Lyrics & Chords to open the editor.

  8. Tap the text field to expand the keyboard and edit the chart. You can add chords using the ChordPro or Standard Chord formats.

  9. (Optional) Tap the ⚙️ settings icon in the top right to open the Formatting menu:

    • Tap on an element to edit the key, text settings, and layout settings.

    • Use the Create PDFs toggles to choose whether to add lyrics-only files or number and numeral charts to the song.

  10. (Optional) Tap the eye icon in the top right to preview the PDF.

  11. If you're on an iOS device: Tap Save in the top right to finish editing the chart.

    If you're on an Android device: Tap the save icon in the top right to finish editing the chart.

Open the editor from the song library

If you have song editor permissions in Services, you can open the Lyrics & Chords editor from the Songs tab in Music Stand.

  1. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left to open the sidebar.

  2. Select the Songs tab to open the song library.

  3. Choose a song from the list.

  4. Choose which arrangement you'd like to edit.

  5. Tap Edit Lyrics & Chords at the bottom of the sidebar to edit the Lyrics & Chords chart for this arrangement.
