Add and manage custom email senders

Communication is a big part of People, and that includes sending emails to your church. Administrators can use custom email senders to choose who emails appear to come from and where replies go. Custom senders could be individuals, like pastors, or groups, like a specific team or ministry.

Because custom email senders enable emailing on behalf of a specific person's email address, a verification process ensures that the address owner is aware of this.

Managers in People can create, edit, and use custom email senders. When adding or editing a custom sender, viewers and editors can be given permission to use it.

Add a custom sender

  1. Select the People page from the top navigation.

  2. Select the ⚙️ settings icon in the top right.

  3. Choose Email settings from the dropdown.

  4. Select Add sender in the Custom senders section.

  5. In the popup, enter the name of the individual or group in the From name field.

  6. Enter the email address to which you want replies sent in the Reply-to email field.

  7. In the Sender permissions section, add an individual or all viewers or editors who can send emails from this address as collaborators.

  8. Select Save.

The owner of the email address you entered in the Reply-to email field will receive a verification email. Once they grant permission using the button in that email, the address will appear as an option in the From: field dropdown when sending an email.

Edit a custom sender

When editing a custom sender, if you update the From Email field, permission must be granted to the new email address before it can be used. However, the owner does not need to grant permission again if you only change the From Name field.

  1. Select the People page from the top navigation.

  2. Select the ⚙️ settings icon in the top right.

  3. Choose Email settings from the dropdown.

  4. Select the ✏️ edit icon to the right of the custom sender you want to edit.

  5. Make your edits in the popup.

  6. Select Save.

Delete a custom sender

  1. Select the People page from the top navigation.

  2. Select the ⚙️ settings icon in the top right.

  3. Choose Email settings from the dropdown.

  4. Select the ✏️ edit icon to the right of the custom sender you want to delete.

  5. Select Delete sender at the bottom of the popup.

  6. Select Yes, delete it in the warning popup.
