Enable the Checkr integration
Planning Center has partnered with a third party called Checkr to provide integrated background checks in Planning Center at a discounted rate.
When you use Checkr to run background checks on your volunteers and staff, you can be confident that the results are reliable and that the process complies with your local laws and regulations.
Background check permissions are handled separately from general People permissions. By default, only organization administrators have background check permissions. Permissions have to be specifically granted to any People manager, editor, or viewer who needs to view all background check details or send new invitations.
Important
The Checkr integration is for US-based background checks. If you need international background checks, contact Checkr directly. You can manually track background checks on a person's profile if their background check was done outside of the integration.
Activate the Checkr integration
Whether you need to sign up for a new Checkr account or are already a Checkr customer, you can integrate Checkr with Planning Center by following these steps.
In account settings, select the Organization page in the top navigation.
Select Integrations in the left sidebar.
On the Add-ons tab, find the Checkr integration.
Select the Connect button.
Select the Connect to Checkr button in the popup.
You will be taken to a Checkr partner website where you can either fill out the information to create a Checkr account or select the Sign in button at the bottom to sign in with an existing account.
During the Checkr signup process, choose Employment when you are asked to select the Purpose of your Checkr account.
Important
According to the Federal Trade Commission, potential volunteers are covered by the same protections and compliance concerns as potential employees. When it comes to background checks, you can think of volunteers as unpaid employees.
If you choose Legitimate Business Need, the candidate's driving records will not be available for order due to compliance issues.
If you've already created your Checkr account and know that you selected a setting other than employment, you can email Checkr support to ask them to change it. It might take 1-2 days to get a response.
It can take up to 48 hours for the Checkr account setup process to complete.
Once you have created a Checkr account or signed in, you will automatically be connected back to Planning Center and can begin running background checks!
