Understanding block types in Publishing
Blocks are the building material you use to create pages in Publishing. They can contain basic content such as links, images, and text, or content from other Planning Center products, like Calendar, Giving, or Registrations.
Basic blocks
Block name | Content to be added |

Button | Create a button and attach a hyperlink to it. Selecting the Open link in new tab only applies when someone is using Church Center in a web browser. |
Contact | Add email, phone, or website contact information so congregants can reach your church. |
Divider | Add a horizontal line to divide sections of your page. |
Event schedule | Add a day, time, and description of an event. |
Grid | Add multiple items, such as buttons and images with hyperlinks and texts, and display them in a grid with up to three columns. You can adjust the number of columns based on mobile and desktop views. It's recommended to have no more than 12 items per block. Any content added to an item will show on the published page. |
Image | Add an image from your device, images you've previously used, or the Unsplash integration. Check out the image sizing guide to ensure your image is the correct size and file type. Attach a hyperlink to the image to use it as a button. Selecting the Open link in new tab only applies when someone is using the Church Center web pages and not the app. |
Location | Add a street address or latitude and longitude with the option to display a map. |
Section header | Add a header for a section of your page. You can add a background image, button, and text. |
Social | Add a link to your church's Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, or Youtube page. |
Text | Add text with standard formatting options. |
Video | Add a URL or embed code to a video hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Resi, or Boxcast. |
Planning Center blocks
Add content from Planning Center products to your custom pages. A page can hold one content block for each product.

Calendar | Pulls from Church Center-designated events in Calendar displayed in grid or list layout. You can customize by adding a headline, selecting a specific campus and/or category, and either displaying events from a set date range or a set number to show, up to six. |
Giving | Link to a specific fund with the option to provide suggested donation amounts. |
Registrations | Pulls from Church Center-designated signups in Registrations. You can customize by adding a headline, selecting a specific campus and/or category, and either displaying signups from a set date range or a set number to show, up to six. |
Sermons | Display a gallery of episodes or series from any sermon channel, or highlight a single episode or series. Automatically surface your livestream or sermon notes when they’re available. |
