Set notification preferences in the Church Center mobile app

You can set notification preferences for chat conversations, your team and schedule, your giving, and your groups in the Church Center mobile app.

Disabling notifications stops push notifications from coming to your phone, but an unread alert still appears in your notifications list in Church Center.

  1. Tap the 🔔 bell icon at the top of the app.

  2. Tap the ⚙️ settings icon.

  3. Choose from the following options to update your notification settings for:

    • Chat conversations: These settings allow you to choose what type of notifications you'd like to receive, and where.

      • Preferred app: Choose whether to receive notifications for group or team chat conversations in Church Center or in the Services mobile app. Notifications must be enabled in the Groups settings, detailed below, to receive group chat notifications

      • Manage chat settings: Select a group or team and choose what you'd like to be notified for in their chat conversations. There are four options available:

        • New messages and reactions: You'll be notified of all new messages and reactions. This is the default setting.

        • New messages: You'll be notified of new messages, but not reactions.

        • Only when a new conversation is created: A 🔕 mute icon will appear on conversations, but you'll be notified when the first message is sent in a new conversation.

        • No notifications: A 🔕 mute icon will appear on conversations, and you won't receive any message notifications.

      Tip

You can override a group's default notification setting on an individual conversation (e.g., muting one noisy conversation while keeping the group enabled) by opening the conversation, selecting its name at the top, and tapping Notifications to choose your preference. Conversation-level overrides will be rewritten if the group default is changed.

    • Team and schedule: Choose where you want to receive service team and schedule notifications, either in Church Center or in the Services mobile app. This excludes team chat notifications because they are set in the Chat conversations setting above.

    • Giving: You automatically receive an emailed receipt each time you donate. You can turn this setting off or change the email address you use to receive receipts. If you want to receive donation receipts at an email address that isn't listed, first add it to your profile.

    • Groups: Select a group and turn push notification on or off for chat activity, new resources, and event and attendance (leaders only) reminders. In-app notifications cannot be disabled.
